What is wrong with Us ?
Sloannet, lately, seems to be:
1) Used to inform people of what's on Much Music four or eight
hours from now.....a Station, regardless of personal taste and enjoyment,
live 2,000 miles away from.
2) Used to inform me of Shows that, again, take place on the part
of the continent diametrically opposite unto me. Good god, people can read
The Coast, and it's amazingly crass to plug your own band.
3) Used to send me huge encoded textfiles which are not only bulky
and useless, but which I also could not give a rat's ass about.
4) To talk about who smokes, or some other jackasssery.
Sloannet is NOT used for:
1) Accurate tourdates and information, esp. Re: The US tour
(presumably because noone at Murder reads these things...and can you blame
them ?)
2) Discussing any band, no matter how good, that hails from West of
the Quebec border....and if you try, the Parochial patrol slap you with a
pastel glove and cry at you.....(and on a more serious note; for everyone
who's ever said "This list is for a discussion of East Coast Music !!!", to
anyone else, a rhetorical question: Do you think that the people you
idolize would make such beautiful music if they were as insular, blinkered,
and narrow minded as you ?)
3) The kind of coherent, cogent, and informed discussion it used to
contain.
So then: Is there a mailing list on Canadian Music in general anyone can
direct me to ? Or Mac software to run one myself ? This is not an unsub
message...but I'll probably be doing so within the week.
