Howdy

Hey all,

I subscribed to this wonderfully active list a couple days ago and
thought I'd introduce my self. My name is Steve and I live in
Washington, DC. Yep, I'm a Yankee and I dig Sloan.

I got into Canadian bands a while back when I first heard The Tragically
Hip (who are probably my fav band) way back when I lived in Texas. I
also dig Odds, The Watchmen, 54-40, Cool Blue Halo, Weeping Tile.

In general, I can be found listening to pretty much anything power pop.
I particularly like The Grays (and anything Jason Falkner or Jon Brion
related), Cotton Mather (which I'm listening to as I write), Dillon Fence,
The Connells, Buffalo Tom, the list goes on and on.

If you're interested, visit my web page at
http://chuck.acc-lab.american.edu/~steves and you can see sll about me
and see a list of my CD collection.

I'll probably do more lurking than posting, hoping beyond hope that Sloan
decide to tour the US. The only Canadian act I've seen is the Hip (been
3 times for them). Could somebody tell me the frequency that Sloan hits
the US. A co-worker of mine told me that when she worked at concert
promoting at Virginia Tech she got Sloan to come down and play, so I KNOW
they play around here sometime.

If y'all haven't heard about it, there's a cool list dedicated to power
pop. To subscribe, send mail to majordomo\!/citadel.slumberland.com with
this as the first line in the message: SUBSCRIBE poprocks. Something
like that. That'll probably work.

Well, sorry for the long post. Thanks for bearing with me.

- steve
