Coincidence? I think not.
On the radio yesterday, this DJ was talking about The Posies and how their last
album didn't do as well as expected in the US. He said that they blamed their
record label, because promotion is directly related to album sales and their
label didn't promote them as the band would have liked. Apparently The Posies
are big in Scotland and other European countries, but because of their label's
poor promotional efforts, they're getting little fanfare in the US. The Posies
are now looking for another label.
Their current label is DGC.
I have this music encyclopedia-type thing that says this about The Posies:
"This Seattle-based power pop quartet is influenced by The Move, Big Star,
Badfinger, and The Beatles. The songwriting and harmonic skills...are
particularly striking, at times sounding like Graham Nash-period Hollies."
Sound familiar?
