Jale album review in Entertainment Wkly.

Jale-So Wound(sub-pop)

Considering that the 1994 debut of this Halifax, Nova Scotia,
quartet was mostly standard-issue alterna-rock, the tightly constructed pop
workouts of their sophmore effort are a real surprise. The songs, addressed
mostly to unworthy lovers, break no new ground, but jangly hooks and
off-center harmonies are played with breezy charm and enthusiasm. B+

p.s. Anybody ever notice how the opening guitar to Sloan's 'penpals' is real
close to The Fixx's 'one thing leads to another'????
