and ottawa rawked for awhile...
hullo! :)
last night was an enjoyable one for all the popcore freaks here in ottawa. :)
a super local friends and rabbits fest was held at the Pit. :) mmmmm!
we showed up early and the pit guy let us write up the show info on
the chalkboard outside the club. we went nuts, it was fun. :)
we met lotsa fun kids there..i was surprised to find people younger than
us in attendance. :) neato. :) one girl was telling me about how treble
charger went swimming at her house once. :)
finally it was time to go and adjust our eyes to the pitch-blackness of
the wonderful wonderful Pit. walking through that red curtain and down those
scary dark stairs every time still thrills me. :) :) earplugs in -- go!
after Flicker :P (soundgarden?) and Weakling (highschool boy pop :) were
through playing, the local rabbits took the stage and played a looong
(according to criss smurfy's watch) ;) and fabulous set, playing no
recorded songs at all, but lotsa good ones none the less. :) i'm not a
huge blues fan or anything but i find all of the local rabbits songs
enjoyable. :) especially live. it was an absolutely hilarious show,
the band & dance floor goin' nutso for the last song. :)
i had no idea that the rabbits are so young - 18, 18, 19 and 20. the
coolest thing i found out yesterday is that the drummer, brian, used to
live right near me in february, and he went to the highschool where i used
to go and where my friends jil and jayson go. :)
then came Green Lantern, Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman; the super
friendz. :) what a show! :) the boyz were in tiptop condition, the
craziest i've seen them yet. :) matt's karate(man) kicking and charles'
rawkstar bass player faces were highly amusing; chris was really throwing
himself into his drumming, and drew was the glue that held the whole
circus together. :)
they played alot of new stuff, but i've only heard the lp once....i
recognized '10 pounds' which they played last. it was beautiful. so was
'rescue us'..it still throws me off a bit to hear the new lyrics (which
are so cool) and the tri-speed-iness. :) :) 'karate man' was also played,
with matt sorta getting into character for it. :)
again, what can i conclude (OK i admit i do i have a limited vocabulary and am
extremely biased, but...) but the show RAWKED. :) it was wicked!!! :)
all you hali kids attending their cd release party on the boat in that
stinky ol' harbour (next week) dont know how freakin lucky you are. :) :)
have fun!!! :) :) :)
the super friendz & local R's are indeed super kids, too. :) they let us
interview them for our dumb zine and then we hung out in dangerous and scary
downtown ottawa ;) [kinda] til the wee hours of the morning. my dad
showed up even and gave criss smurfy a neck massage. it was all too
surreal. :)
bye bye for now.... :)
lotsa love,
tara charger :) :) :)
